As a young boy
growing up on our family farm, I loved going bird hunting with my
grandfather, "Pop", during the cool crisp winter
afternoons. After lunch, we would leave his house walking with his
white English Setter, "Mac". It never failed that I
would get to carry at least four or five quail in my hunting coat
that we had harvested during our walk. Unfortunately, I have seen
those days become nothing but a fond memory. The dwindling
quail population that the entire south has experienced over the
last several years has inspired me to bring the traditional
old-style 'bird-hunting the way that Pop used to do' back to my family
farms.
Hearing the
thundering wings of a covey of Bobwhite quail or the cackling of a
rooster pheasant rustling out of the thick cover can in no way be
replaced. Our goal here at Sportsman's Hunting Preserve is
to bring back the tradition of old-style bird hunting that will
give hunters the memories of a by-gone era.
Here at
Sportsman's Hunting Preserve, we welcome you to bring your own
dogs or we will be glad to guide your hunt with our dogs. We
look forward to meeting you and to provide you with a safe and
enjoyable experience that will provide you with a memory of
hunting the way that our forefathers were so fortunate to enjoy.
Sincerely,
Carl Outland
